Garrison Brewing was founded in 1997 in the north end of Halifax, opening with an Irish Red Ale and a Nut Brown Ale. In 2006 it moved into the 1929 Immigration Annex on the south-end waterfront as the first tenant of the redeveloped Halifax Seaport, and in 2014 again into a former CN rail repair building nearby, where a purpose-built brewhouse supplies the core range. The original plant still runs as a market brewery for specialties and collaborations. Foraged local ingredients recur across the seasonal beers: spruce tips, lavender, rhubarb, pumpkin.

Four notes carry across the range. That's a tight house style — most breweries in the catalogue share just one.
Their signature has to hold across very different styles — which makes the notes that do recur more telling, not less.
