Allagash Brewing Company
Allagash Brewing Company was founded in 1995 by Rob Tod in the Riverton neighborhood of Portland, Maine, on a 15-barrel system and with a single beer, Allagash White, at a time when Belgian styles were hard to find in the United States. Jason Perkins has been brewmaster since 1999, and in 2007 the brewery built a coolship for spontaneous fermentation. Still independent and owned by Tod, Allagash became a Certified B Corp in 2019, runs a second tasting room in Scarborough and sources a growing share of its grain from Maine farms.

How we measure this
Two thresholds are at work here:
- The signature list shows notes that recur in at least 6% of this brewery's beers. A low bar — enough to flag a pattern, not high enough to call it an exclusive trait.
- The peer comparison below shows only notes where this brewery's coverage differs from similar breweries by at least 20 percentage points. A higher bar — enough to call a real difference, not a nudge.
A note can appear on the signature list without appearing in the peer comparison: it recurs here, but similar breweries do the same thing.
Allagash White
Their beers place in the Top 41% of the catalogue on average, across 36 ranked beers. Consistent rather than spiky — no single standout carrying the rest.
