Foliage Report

◎ Appearance

Foliage Report presents a clear amber-brown body with excellent transparency and a modest cream-colored head that settles to a thin collar with solid adhesion to the glass. The carbonation is moderate and even, creating fine bubbles that rise steadily through the liquid. The visual profile sits confidently between clarity and depth, typical of well-executed Belgian dubbels.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with warm caramel and toffee notes derived from the Victory and Munich malts, layered beneath a subtle toasted grain aroma. Dark candi syrup brings forward dried-fruit character—raisin and date—while the Allagash house yeast contributes fruity esters of ripe plum and gentle spice. The overall impression is malty and inviting, without aggressive alcohol presence despite the 7% ABV.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with pronounced toffee and caramel sweetness that carries from the aroma into a full, rounded mouthfeel. Mid-palate develops the dark candi syrup's raisin and date character alongside a bread-crust note from subtle black malt and toasted barley. Bitterness remains restrained at 20 IBU, providing balance without dominance, while the yeast continues to express ripe stone-fruit notes throughout.

◑ Finish

The finish is moderately dry and clean, shedding much of the upfront sweetness to reveal a lingering toast-and-dried-fruit aftertaste. The exit remains crisp and composed, befitting Allagash's house yeast character and the beer's autumn positioning.

Serve at 10–12°C for the best flavour balance and aroma expression.

The wide mouth and heavy base promote head formation and channel rich aromatics toward the nose. Traditional for Belgian strong ales.
