Guinness Original pours a deep, opaque black with ruby highlights at the edges when held to light. The head is modest and short-lived, dissipating quickly to reveal a clean, dark body with excellent clarity for the style. The carbonation is evident but restrained, creating fine bubbles rather than the dense nitrogen cascade of its draft counterpart.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with prominent roasted barley and coffee notes, grounded and earthy in character. A fresh, clean hop presence cuts through the roast, providing brightness and preventing the aroma from becoming one-dimensional. Light fruity esters emerge beneath, adding subtle complexity and a touch of sweetness to balance the roasted grain.

◐ Geschmack

The palate is crisp and refreshingly dry, eschewing creaminess for a lean, snappy character. Roasted grain provides a pleasant bite through the mid-palate, with coffee and subtle chocolate notes developing, while hoppy bitterness adds definition without harshness. The finish transitions cleanly from bittersweet complexity to a dry, lingering roasted grain quality.

The finish is notably dry and moderately persistent, with roasted grain tannins providing gentle grip. The aftertaste remains clean and refreshing, with lingering coffee and hop bitterness that invites another sip.
