Neumarkter Lammsbräu is a brewery and malthouse in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, Bavaria, first documented in 1628 under the name 'Zum Goldenen Lamm'. The Ehrnsperger family has owned the business since 1800, now in its seventh generation. In 1986 the brewery began converting to organic raw materials, and in 1992 it became the first brewery in Europe to be certified under EU organic regulations; by 1995 the entire product range had been fully converted to certified organic production. The brewery is the market leader for organic beer in Germany. Owner Franz Ehrnsperger was awarded the German Environmental Prize in 2001 for his ecological production methods.
