🌍 Germany · Helles Lager · One of 219 Helles Lagers in hopIQ

Urstoff is the brewery's spicy take on a Bavarian Helles, named after the raw materials it is brewed from, all of them grown on certified organic farms in the region. It pours golden, almost honey-coloured, under a white, creamy head. The nose brings a light roasted note over full, bready malt with a hint of honey, while the hops stay delicate and grassy. On the palate it is soft and rounded with a full malt body, before a mild, lightly bitter finish. Original gravity is 11.5 °Plato.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with a delicate roasted grain note that frames the dominant bready, full malt character. A gentle honeyed sweetness emerges beneath the malt, while the Edelhopfen contribution remains restrained and grassy, refusing to dominate the aromatic profile. The overall impression is one of soft, rounded malt complexity.

◐ Taste

The palate enters soft and rounded, with a substantial malt body that carries through the mid-palate without heaviness. Biscuity and lightly sweet malt flavors develop with a fine grain structure, while the hop bitterness remains mild and restrained at 18 IBU, finishing clean but not dry. The balance favors the malt character throughout.
