The Modschiedler family ran it from 1814 until 2009, when long-time brewmaster Norbert Kramer took over. With around 40,000 hectolitres a year it is the largest brewery in the district of Bamberg. It draws water from its own spring, keeps a small show hop garden and lagers its beers slowly in two tanks. The unbunged, unfiltered Kellerbier is its signature and is also exported.
