Plankstettener Klosterbiere are the beers of the Benedictine abbey of Plankstetten, in the district of the same name in Berching, in Bavaria's Altmühl valley. Its own brewery, first documented in 1496, closed in 1959. Since 1997 the organic Riedenburger Brauhaus in nearby Riedenburg has brewed and distributed the range on the abbey's behalf, using recipes owned by the monastery and Bioland barley and spelt grown on the monastic estate. Four unfiltered beers make up the range: Dinkel, Spezial, Dunkel and the seasonal Maibock.
