◎ Aussehen

Deep mahogany-brown to nearly black, with opaque clarity characteristic of the style. The dense head dissipates gradually, leaving fine lacing that clings to the glass. Carbonation is restrained, allowing the weight and darkness of the beer to dominate visually.

◌ Aroma

Dark chocolate and roasted grain form the foundation, with smoked malt adding a faint wisp of char. The bourbon and brandy oak aging introduces layered complexity: vanilla sweetness, dried stone fruits, and a subtle walnut undertone emerge on closer inspection. The alcohol is warming but not intrusive.

◐ Geschmack

The palate opens with rich dark chocolate and cocoa that carries through the mid-palate with barely perceptible smoke. Oak integration is seamless—bourbon-derived vanilla and brandy-like fruit sweetness build gradually, while nutty undertones emerge on the sides of the tongue. Bitterness remains low and restrained, allowing the wood character and malt sweetness to coexist without conflict.

The finish is long and warming, with walnut and dried-fruit notes lingering on the palate. Alcohol strength reads as gentle heat rather than sharp burn, and the aftertaste settles into cocoa and a whisper of smoke.

Bei 10–13°C servieren. Zu kalt dämpft die Röstvielfalt, die einen guten Porter langsam trinkbar macht.
