Hirschentrunk presents a clear copper-red to chestnut hue, characteristic of its Rauchbier heritage. The beer settles beneath a firm off-white head that displays solid retention and lacing, creating an inviting visual presence in the glass.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with clean grain and malt character, followed by a restrained wisp of wood smoke that remains subtle and integrated rather than assertive. No harsh phenolic edges emerge; instead, the smoked malt sits gracefully within the broader malted barley foundation.

◐ Geschmack

The palate enters with sweet malt, toffee, and bread crust flavors before gentle roasted and smoky undertones emerge in the mid-palate. The body remains fairly slim, allowing smoke and roast to sit lightly on the tongue without overwhelming the malt sweetness that anchors the beer.

◑ Abgang

The finish turns dry with a lightly smoky aftertaste, edged by mild hop bitterness that provides a clean, measured close. Smoke lingers softly without clinging; the beer retreats gracefully from the palate.
