Sawdust City Brewing Company started out in 2011 at the Niagara College Teaching Brewery, then bought a former Canadian Tire building in Gravenhurst on Lake Muskoka, where the first beer came out of its own tanks in 2014. The name recalls the town's old nickname from the days when mills and lumberyards lined the shore. The 20,000 square foot site holds a Canadian-made brewhouse, a barrel-aging room and a bar built around a live-edge counter milled from a felled pine. Sam Corbeil has run brewing since the beginning, and the range moves from lagers and English bitter to hazy IPAs and kettle sours.
