Yukon Brewing was founded in Whitehorse in 1997 as Chilkoot Brewing Co. Ltd. by Bob Baxter and Alan Hansen, an idea worked out around a campfire on a canoe trip. For the US market the name changed briefly to Cheechako Brewing, then to Yukon Brewing in 1999. The brewery runs a site on Copper Road with a store, a tasting area and tours, and its beers travel beyond the territory into British Columbia and Alberta. A distilling arm added in 2009 produces single malt whisky under the Two Brewers name.
