Kilter Brewing was started in 2018 by the Cloutier brothers, Julien, Miguel and Jerik, after roughly a decade of travelling to more than thirty countries to study craft brewing, with their parents Carmen and Leo backing the venture. The first batches were brewed on borrowed systems elsewhere in Winnipeg before the family settled on Saint-Boniface, the city's Franco-Manitoban quarter, where production and a taproom on Rue Deschambault opened in 2020. The range leans tropical and dessert-driven, and the can artwork is made with local artists.
