The Griffin Brewery stands near the Thames at Chiswick in west London, on a site where beer has been brewed since the seventeenth century. The Griffin name and emblem date from 1816, and the partnership of Fuller, Smith & Turner was formed there in 1845. In 2019 the brewing business was sold to Asahi, while the Fuller's pub company stayed independent and still pours the beers. Since Gale's closed its Horndean brewery in 2006, the Gale's ales have also been brewed in Chiswick, next to London Pride, ESB and a range of bottle-conditioned strong ales.
