Dušan Holý and Aleš Karpita founded this craft brewery in 2012 in Ostravice, a mountain village in the Beskydy near the Šance reservoir, partly for its soft mountain water. The first beer, Beskydský ležák, followed in March 2013; the stated aim is beer without filtration or pasteurisation. 65 different beers have been brewed so far, capacity sits at 9,000 hectolitres and no expansion is planned. The brewery also supports the endangered capercaillie in the Beskydy financially.
