Kernel Rice Lager

Tap to rate

The brewery's first adjunct lager, brewed together with Duration Brewing for late summer from lager malt and rice and fermented with bottom-fermenting yeast. It pours a light straw colour under a dense white foam. Tettnanger hops added late give a light lemon and grassy aroma; on the palate the rice shows up first as delicate floral, jasmine-like flavours before the beer turns crisp and dry. At 4.5 per cent it is sold in bottle and poured at the brewery's taproom.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with the rice adjunct's defining character: a soft, refined floral quality reminiscent of jasmine that sets this lager apart from traditional grain-based examples. As the beer develops, the crisp, mineral dryness emerges, driven by the clean lager fermentation and judicious 22 IBUs of Tettnanger bitterness. The finish turns increasingly dry without astringency, leaving the mouth refreshed.
