🌍 Spain · Alcohol-Free Lager · One of 42 Alcohol-Free Lagers in hopIQ

Free Damm Tostada joined Damm's alcohol-free range in February 2020. Roasted malts, produced in a way similar to roasting coffee beans, give it colour and depth, and as with Free Damm the alcohol is removed by vacuum distillation before the lost aromas are returned. The beer is amber with red glints, bright under a compact head. The nose is expressive, with roast, coffee and cocoa over a pleasant caramel note. The palate is broad and weighty, rich in toasted flavours, its sweetness balanced by a herbal freshness before a subtle bitter finish.

Aroma

The nose is expressive and layered, leading with pronounced roasted and toasted grain notes reminiscent of coffee beans and dark chocolate. A pleasant caramel sweetness provides backbone, while herbal notes add complexity and prevent the profile from becoming one-dimensional. The aromatic balance reflects the vacuum distillation process that preserves character despite alcohol removal.

Taste

The palate enters broad and weighty, delivering rich toasted flavours across the mid-palate that echo the aromatic promise. Sweet caramel and chocolate notes are present but restrained, balanced by a herbal freshness that provides counterpoint. The finish shows subtle bitterness that cleans the palate without dominating, leaving a dry, composed conclusion.
