🌍 Germany · Dinkelweizen · One of 2 Dinkelweizens in hopIQ

A summer wheat beer brewed from barley, wheat and spelt malt. The first brew was made in the early 1990s to help pay for a new church organ in the village, and the current generation has taken up the old recipe again. The beer is golden and cloudy, with banana and clove from the yeast over a bready, faintly nutty grain note that the spelt contributes. Carbonation is brisk, the close spicy and short. On sale from April to October.

Taste

The palate enters crisp and light, with the spiced yeast character (clove and banana) arriving immediately and sustaining through the mid-palate. The malt foundation is soft and wheaten, with the spelt contributing a subtle nutty backbone and a faintly grainy dryness. Bitterness is restrained and integrated, allowing the fruit and spice to remain prominent without overwhelming sweetness.
