🌍 Belgium · Belgian Pale Ale · One of 26 Belgian Pale Ales in hopIQ

Triomf was created in 2013 when the Kunstencentrum De Vooruit in Ghent asked Dupont for a beer to mark its centenary; the name recalls the Triomf once brewed by the Vooruit brewery. Demand was strong enough that it joined the regular range. The organic amber ale owes its peaty, smoky notes to a small share of whisky malt dried over Scottish peat. Hazelnut, toast and fresh citrus follow, and a firm bitterness leads into a very dry finish.

The nose opens with distinctive peaty and smoky notes from the whisky malt, followed by toasted grain and hazelnut undertones that add depth and complexity. Fresh citrus notes emerge on the second pass, cutting through the earthier base with a subtle brightness. The overall aromatic profile is well-balanced between malt-driven warmth and hop-derived freshness.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with a firm, assertive bitterness that frames the flavor development. Toast and hazelnut notes dominate the mid-palate, with the citrus character providing lift and counterpoint to the malt's richness. The body is medium and clean, allowing the bitterness to build progressively without overwhelming the subtle sweetness.
