Super Hornet

◎ Appearance

Deep golden amber with excellent clarity and a fine, persistent white head that clings to the glass in delicate lacing. The beer displays bright, lively carbonation throughout, appropriate for a Double IPA of this character.

◌ Aroma

Vibrant citrus and resinous pine dominate the nose, lifted by tropical fruit notes—mango and passionfruit—that emerge beneath the assertive hop profile. Vienna and Caramel Munich malts contribute a subtle toffee and bready sweetness in the background, grounding the aromatic intensity.

◐ Taste

The palate opens with bold hop bitterness that builds steadily through the mid-palate, reinforced by the dry, resinous character of Dr Rudi, Columbus, and Simcoe hops. Caramel malt sweetness and a noticeable bready note provide essential balance, preventing the beer from becoming one-dimensional. Amarillo and Citra add bright citric edges that linger alongside the heavy, lingering bitterness.

◑ Finish

The finish is dry, assertive, and enduring, with a warming alcohol note that becomes increasingly evident as the beer warms slightly. Residual pine and citrus dryness persist well into the aftertaste, alongside a fading toffee sweetness.

Serve at 8–11°C for the best flavour balance and aroma expression.

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.
