La Sagra was founded in 2011 by Carlos García in Numancia de la Sagra, in the province of Toledo, and takes its name from the Castilian district around it. The brewery stands on an industrial estate between Numancia and Yuncos, roughly halfway between Madrid and Toledo. Its logo borrows Don Quixote's barber's basin and the windmills of La Mancha. A trademark dispute with a larger brewer over a similar-sounding name added the article to the brand. Molson Coors took a majority stake in 2017.

Four notes carry across the range. That's a tight house style — most breweries in the catalogue share just one.
Their signature has to hold across very different styles — which makes the notes that do recur more telling, not less.
Across 16 beers in 9 style families, one trait still carries through — a broad range makes a shared signature harder to hold.
