Fiddlehead Brewing Company was founded on New Year's Eve 2011 by Matt Cohen — known as "Matty O" — who had previously served as head brewer at Magic Hat Brewing in Burlington, Vermont. Located on Shelburne Road in Shelburne, just south of Burlington, the brewery has remained independently owned since opening. The flagship Fiddlehead IPA became the best-selling draft beer in Vermont by 2016. As of 2024, Fiddlehead is the 23rd largest craft brewery in the United States by volume and the largest Vermont-owned brewery — built on a single location with no kitchen.
