Known for American IPA · Stout

Founded in 1991 in a classic 1915 fire station in downtown Rapid City — South Dakota's first craft brewery and brewpub, born after a group of locals visited a brewpub in downtown Denver and came home determined to open one. The historic building with its original tin ceilings and fire poles is as much of the draw as the beer. One of the longest continuously operating craft breweries in the northern Great Plains.

How they compare
Each beer measured against others of its own style, then averaged across the range. Compared with 340 other breweries making American IPA, Stout and American Amber Ale.
Three beers is enough for a first read, not a full house style — one unusual beer moves this a lot.

Across 3 beers in 3 style families, none of Firehouse Brewing Company's characters carry through the whole range — the mix of styles they brew is the signature here.
