Feral Brewing Company
Feral was founded in 2002 by Brendan Varis and Alistair Carragher in the Swan Valley outside Perth. Its first beer was a Belgian-style witbier; the hop-forward ales that made its name came later. Production moved to Bassendean in 2012, into a brewhouse set up with Nail Brewing. Coca-Cola Amatil bought the company in 2017, and the original brewpub closed four years later. Since 2024 the brand has belonged to Nail Brewing and a group of investors, while the Bassendean plant is owned by Beerfarm, which brews the beers there.

How we measure this
Two thresholds are at work here:
- The signature list shows notes that recur in at least 6% of this brewery's beers. A low bar — enough to flag a pattern, not high enough to call it an exclusive trait.
- The peer comparison below shows only notes where this brewery's coverage differs from similar breweries by at least 20 percentage points. A higher bar — enough to call a real difference, not a nudge.
A note can appear on the signature list without appearing in the peer comparison: it recurs here, but similar breweries do the same thing.
Hop Hog
Their beers place in the Top 75% of the catalogue on average, across 8 ranked beers. One clear standout well ahead of the rest.
