Black Isle Brewery
Black Isle Brewery was founded in 1998 by David Gladwin at Old Allangrange, a farm near Munlochy on the Black Isle peninsula north of Inverness. Every beer is brewed from organically grown malt and hops, with water drawn from the farm's own borehole; spent grain goes back to the livestock. The range runs from a top-fermented, cold-matured blonde through hop-led pale ales and IPAs to porter, oatmeal stout and Scotch ale, plus the low-alcohol Halo line. The company is controlled by the Gladwin family and runs its own bars in Inverness and Fort William.

How we measure this
Two thresholds are at work here:
- The signature list shows notes that recur in at least 6% of this brewery's beers. A low bar — enough to flag a pattern, not high enough to call it an exclusive trait.
- The peer comparison below shows only notes where this brewery's coverage differs from similar breweries by at least 20 percentage points. A higher bar — enough to call a real difference, not a nudge.
A note can appear on the signature list without appearing in the peer comparison: it recurs here, but similar breweries do the same thing.
