Soundwave

Tap to rate

Soundwave is the brewery's flagship IPA and one of its first recipes. It pours hazy and unfiltered, with American hops carrying the aroma: citrus and grapefruit, mango and other tropical fruit, a little stone fruit. Bitterness is kept restrained for the style, so the hop aroma stays in front, while pale malt with a touch of wheat gives a soft, light body. The finish turns resinous and piney, the note the brewery itself names as the beer's signature.

◎ Appearance

Soundwave presents as a hazy, unfiltered pour with a golden-amber hue typical of American IPA. The turbidity from suspended yeast and grain particles creates an intentionally cloudy appearance. A modest white head forms and maintains reasonable lacing on the glass.

◐ Taste

Entry is clean and approachable, with the tropical hop character transitioning smoothly across the palate. The soft, light body—enhanced by a touch of wheat—prevents the beer from feeling heavy despite its hop focus. IPAs are hop-forward ales with 5.5–7.5% ABV and IBU 40–70+. Bold hop aroma — citrus, tropical, resinous — with firm bitterness and a dry, clean finish.

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same hazy, resinous, tropical character as Soundwave will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
