Whirl

Tap to rate

Whirl is a hazy IPA brewed with barley, oats and wheat and hopped with Nelson Sauvin and Idaho 7. The brewery names peach, pineapple and orange; a Swedish monopoly tasting note adds grapefruit, gooseberry, rosemary and white pepper and speaks of a very fruity beer with a distinct bitterness. The oats give a soft, full texture, and the juicy fruit keeps the 6.2% in the background. It was first released in summer 2025 and has been exported to Scandinavia since.

AI-generated sensory profile for Whirl

◎ Appearance

Whirl presents a pale golden hue with a distinctly hazy, opaque appearance characteristic of the style. The thick, creamy head sits atop the beer with notable retention, and fine carbonation rises steadily through the cloudy body. The cloudiness derives from suspended yeast and grain matter rather than hop particles, creating a soft, inviting visual presence.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with prominent stone fruit and tropical notes—ripe peach and pineapple leap forward, undercut by a citrus brightness of orange and grapefruit. Subtle herbaceous and peppery layers emerge from the Nelson Sauvin and Idaho 7, with a whisper of gooseberry complexity and white pepper spice. The oat and wheat bill contributes a soft, grain-forward undertone that grounds the vibrant hop character.

◐ Taste

The palate enters clean and juicy, with peach and tropical fruit flavors building quickly across the mid-palate. A measured bitterness arrives at around 50 IBU—present and defined without becoming aggressive—balancing the fruit's sweetness while the oats lend a full, smooth mouthfeel. The wheat adds a soft body that keeps the 6.2% alcohol footprint recessive, allowing the interplay of fruit, spice and measured hop bite to remain in focus.

◑ Finish

The finish lingers with a gentle fade of citrus and white pepper, with the bitterness persisting as a dry, clean aftertaste. The overall impression is refreshing and quenching, encouraging another sip.
