Lavas Kriek

Tap to rate

Herbal and slightly savoury, with notes of celery and fresh herbs, set against a fruity acidity. Lovage, known in Flanders as the Maggi plant, steeped for ten days in Kriekenlambiek made with 330 g of sour cherries per litre; the leaves came from the gardens of friends of ONE TWO, the Romanian brewery from Timișoara that developed the beer with Oud Beersel; in Romania, lovage goes fresh into the sour soup ciorbă. Refermented in the bottle, dark red, 7.5 % ABV.

Dark ruby red with a garnet edge, translucent but dense in color. A modest cream-colored head forms and recedes quickly, leaving thin, spotty lacing along the glass. Fine carbonation presents as a gentle prickle rather than aggressive bubbles.
