◎ Appearance

Nearly opaque black in the glass with deep mahogany edges where light passes through. A tan head sits atop the surface with solid retention and even lacing that clings to the glass. The beer presents with minimal visible carbonation despite its substantial body.

◌ Aroma

Roasted malt dominates the nose, offering dark chocolate, ground coffee beans, and a distinct burnt bread crust character. Beneath these roasted notes lies a subtle sweetness suggesting molasses and dried stone fruit. The alcohol warmth is present but restrained, complementing rather than overwhelming the malt-forward profile.

◐ Taste

The palate enters with full, creamy weight and intense roasted character that coats the mouth evenly. Dark chocolate and coffee dominate the mid-palate, with molasses sweetness and dried fruit notes providing counterpoint to the roast. Bitterness remains subtle at 21 IBU, allowing roasted grain to provide the primary drying sensation rather than hop-derived harshness.

A long, warming finish accompanies the drying roast character, with the 8.5% alcohol providing gentle heat without harshness. The aftertaste lingers with coffee grounds and a hint of char, gradually fading to a smooth, dry conclusion.
