Moinette Blonde

🌍 Belgium · Saison · One of 82 Saisons in hopIQ

Moinette Blonde was created in 1955 and is still the brewery's flagship in Belgium. The name goes back to the Cense de la Moinette on the family estate and to the old French word moëne for marshland. The strong, copper-tinged blond is refermented in the bottle with the house yeast. Yellow fruit leads the nose, joined by orange, clove and a peppery phenolic edge. On the palate soft malt sweetness is balanced by a clear bitterness, and the finish is dry.

About Saison

Style guide · what to expect · how to find alternatives

What is a Saison?

Saisons are Belgian farmhouse ales with 5–8% ABV and IBU 20–35. Spicy, fruity yeast — pepper, citrus, hay — with high carbonation and a dry refreshing finish.

Finding a similar Saison

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same dry, fruity, clove character as Moinette Blonde will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
