🌍 Belgium · Fruit Lambic · One of 15 Fruit Lambics in hopIQ

Lambic blended with 80 percent raspberries, 20 percent blueberries and vanilla — the only beer in the range with vanilla in it. The cuvée was originally put together in 2018 to support the Magic Land Theater in Schaerbeek, which was at risk of closing at the time. The brewery gives cellar temperature as the serving guide and sells it one bottle at a time.

Tasting Notes

AI-generated sensory profile for Magic Lambic

Appearance

Deep ruby red with amber highlights, translucent and bright. Fine, persistent head with delicate lacing that clings to the glass. The carbonation is gentle, reflecting the traditional lambic production method and the brewery's cellar-temperature serving recommendation.

Aroma

The nose opens with bright raspberry and blueberry fruit, immediately forward and inviting. Beneath the fruit lies a subtle vanilla warmth with soft floral undertones from the wild yeast fermentation. A gentle acidity provides lift, creating a complex bouquet that balances sweetness with tartness.

Taste

The palate leads with candied berry fruit—raspberry dominant, blueberry supporting—followed by a creamy vanilla note that softens the initial tartness. The sourness builds gradually through the mid-palate, creating tension with the residual sweetness. A dry, slightly astringent finish emerges from the fermentation character, preventing cloying despite the high fruit content.

Finish

The finish is dry and structured, with the sourness lingering pleasantly on the palate. A subtle berry tartness persists alongside a whisper of vanilla, leaving a refreshing aftertaste rather than sweetness.
