Caminha Madness

Tap to rate

A hazy IPA at 6% built around a single idea: Riwaka hops added as dry hop in five separate stages between fermentation and maturation, to layer the aroma as deeply as possible. Mango, passion fruit, grape and citrus are the result, in a beer of veiled yellow colour. Three breweries worked on the recipe for the Wondercraft series.

◎ Appearance

A veil of fine haze softens the pale yellow body, creating a diffused luminosity characteristic of the style. The head forms quickly and clings to the glass with gentle persistence, leaving delicate traces of lacing. Carbonation is moderate and even, supporting the suspended particulates without aggressive effervescence.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with layered stone fruit and citrus notes—mango and passion fruit lead, followed by subtle grape undertones and bergamot-like brightness. This complexity speaks to the five-stage dry-hop regimen with Riwaka, each addition building depth rather than mushrooming into a single dimension. Beneath the hop character lies a clean, neutral malt foundation that allows the varietal character to speak clearly.

◐ Taste

The palate enters soft and approachable, with the tropical and citrus impressions from the nose translating into a textured mid-palate without harshness. The 23 IBUs provide restraint—bitterness arrives as a gentle frame rather than a punch, allowing the fruit-forward character to remain the focal point. Body is light to medium, refreshing without thinness, and the alcohol at 6% remains entirely transparent.

◑ Finish

The finish fades gradually, leaving a faint echo of passion fruit and citrus zest on the palate. A whisper of herbal dryness lingers without demanding attention.
