Berg Original Hell

Tap to rate

A lean, pale lager in which neither malt nor hops push forward: both show up as restrained notes, and the body stays slim. Pale barley malt forms the whole grist; Tettnanger Herkules and Tettnanger Tradition provide the hopping. Over the decades the brewery has sold the same beer under the names Lager, Helles and Export. Original gravity is 11.9 percent, the lowest in the year-round range together with the pilsner.

◌ Aroma

The nose is restrained and understated, as the brewery's house character dictates. Soft pale malt provides a gentle, grainy foundation without any roasted or caramel notes, while Tettnanger varieties contribute minimal herbal spice and a whisper of noble hop resin rather than aggressive floral or citrus character.
