Oakham Ales
Oakham Ales began brewing in September 1993 in Oakham, Rutland, and has been based in Peterborough since 1998, initially at the Brewery Tap on Westgate and from 2006 in a larger brewhouse in the Woodston district. Founded by John Wood and bought by Paul Hook in 1995, the independent brewery was an early British adopter of American hops in pale, hop-forward cask ales; by its own account its 2009 Citra was the first UK beer brewed solely with that variety. Five permanent beers are joined by monthly seasonals, cellar-matured strong ales and small-batch brews from the Westgate plant.

Four notes carry across the range. That's a tight house style — most breweries in the catalogue share just one.

How we measure this
Two thresholds are at work here:
- The signature list shows notes that recur in at least 6% of this brewery's beers. A low bar — enough to flag a pattern, not high enough to call it an exclusive trait.
- The peer comparison below shows only notes where this brewery's coverage differs from similar breweries by at least 20 percentage points. A higher bar — enough to call a real difference, not a nudge.
A note can appear on the signature list without appearing in the peer comparison: it recurs here, but similar breweries do the same thing.
Oakham Citra
Their beers place in the Top 39% of the catalogue on average, across 11 ranked beers. Consistent rather than spiky — no single standout carrying the rest.
