Mompesson's Gold

Tap to rate

A strong amber ale first brewed in 1996 and brought back from time to time in the brewery's cellar-matured range, where beers are re-fermented with fresh yeast and aged in cask for at least six weeks. Challenger and Savinjski Goldings give earthy, floral aromas; medium crystal malt adds a deep gold colour and sweet fruit flavours. The finish is long, hoppy and bittersweet. It is named after Giles Mompesson, a 17th-century commissioner of inns convicted of extortion. Strength is 5.2 %.
