Greene King
Greene King has brewed in the Suffolk market town of Bury St Edmunds since 1799, when Benjamin Greene set up the business; the present name dates from the 1887 merger with Frederick King's brewery. The Westgate Brewery is known above all for cask ale, with Greene King IPA and Abbot Ale as its best-known beers, joined since 2022 by a modern range around Level Head and Flint Eye. The company also runs a large pub estate and brews ales under the names of breweries it took over and closed, among them Ruddles and Hardys & Hansons. Since 2019 it has been owned by CK Asset Holdings of Hong Kong.

How we measure this
Two thresholds are at work here:
- The signature list shows notes that recur in at least 6% of this brewery's beers. A low bar — enough to flag a pattern, not high enough to call it an exclusive trait.
- The peer comparison below shows only notes where this brewery's coverage differs from similar breweries by at least 20 percentage points. A higher bar — enough to call a real difference, not a nudge.
A note can appear on the signature list without appearing in the peer comparison: it recurs here, but similar breweries do the same thing.
