Brouwerij De 7 Deugden
A social enterprise brewery in Amsterdam, formally founded in 2009. Garmt Haakma started it because he wanted to create a workplace for exceptional people, and the beers are brewed by people for whom a job elsewhere is not a given at the moment. The old site was a big garage in Osdorp that grew too small; since April 2018 the team works at the Akersluis in Sloten, with capacity for up to 40,000 litres a month, a brewhouse and bottler in the basement and a tasting room on the ground floor. Haakma wants idiosyncratic brews and experiments with herbs such as thyme, clove and coriander, and with smoked malt. Besides its own beers, the brewery brews around 500 hectolitres a year for contract brewers.

The recurring character behind the beers
Brouwerij De 7 Deugden brew a broad range across 9 style families.
Across these 19 beers, 4 notes keep showing up:
Four notes carry across the range. That's a tight house style — most breweries in the catalogue share just one.
Compared with the wider catalogue of similar styles:
They stay close to the peer baseline on their recurring notes.
How we measure this
Two thresholds are at work here:
- The signature list shows notes that recur in at least 6% of this brewery's beers. A low bar — enough to flag a pattern, not high enough to call it an exclusive trait.
- The peer comparison below shows only notes where this brewery's coverage differs from similar breweries by at least 20 percentage points. A higher bar — enough to call a real difference, not a nudge.
A note can appear on the signature list without appearing in the peer comparison: it recurs here, but similar breweries do the same thing.
