Pacific Ale

Tap to rate

Pacific Ale was first poured as Draught Ale and took its current name at the end of 2010. It is brewed with Australian barley and wheat and hopped solely with Galaxy, added once more as a dry hop late in fermentation. Rolled and malted wheat leave it hazy and golden. The aroma is led by passionfruit, citrus and tropical fruit over a soft, grainy note. The body is light, the finish refreshing with a restrained bitterness. It is sold all year.

AI-generated sensory profile for Pacific Ale

◎ Appearance

Golden-yellow hue with pronounced haze arising from the wheat's high protein content. The head forms quickly and maintains reasonable retention with fine, delicate lacing. Bright carbonation visible throughout, giving the beer an inviting, alive character in the glass.

◌ Aroma

The late dry hop charge delivers a vibrant tropical bouquet—passionfruit and mandarin notes lead, followed by citrus zest and orange blossom. Beneath the hop intensity sits a gentle bready sweetness from the wheat and Australian barley, adding depth without overwhelming the fresh, aromatic profile.

◐ Taste

The wheat lends a soft, full mouthfeel that belies the beer's modest 4.4% ABV, creating a rounded entry without heaviness. Galaxy hops carry tropical and citrus notes across the mid-palate, while the restrained 30 IBUs provide a balancing bitterness that never dominates. The close is notably dry and quenching, with lingering citrus and a clean, mineral edge.

◑ Finish

The aftertaste is brief and refreshingly dry, with fading citrus notes and a mineral crispness. The restrained bitterness departs cleanly, leaving the palate ready for the next sip.

Serve & Enjoy

How to get the most out of Pacific Ale

Serve at 7–10°C
Refrigerate, then rest 2 min

Cold enough to sharpen the hop aroma without numbing the palate. Around 7–9°C keeps the citrus and pine vivid without losing bitterness definition.
