Away Double IPA

United Kingdom·Double West Coast IPA
Tap to rate

Bitter and piney, this West Coast double IPA was brewed together with Rivington Brewing Co. as Newbarns' first ever DIPA, and it is meant to be bitter enough that you can still tell it comes from Newbarns. Centennial and Amarillo form the hop foundation, with Citra, Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin added on top. 8% ABV and vegan friendly.

Mosaic brings subtle stone fruit undertones that add complexity without softening the overall sharp, herbaceous character.

◐ Taste

Bitterness arrives immediately and builds through the mid-palate with dry, woody hop compounds and a pronounced pine pitch. Beneath the bold hop profile lies a clean malt backbone—biscuit and light caramel—that supports rather than competes. The finish is dry and lingering, with resinous bitterness extending well into the aftertaste.

◑ Finish

Long and persistent, with bitter hop compounds and resinous notes holding through a bone-dry conclusion. No residual sweetness—the finish rewards the bitterness-seeking palate.
