Hazy IPNA

Tap to rate

Packed with passionfruit flavor, this non-alcoholic hazy IPA goes crazy hazy and tropically hoppy, bright like its sibling IPNA but with the full cloud of a hazy. The brewery's pitch is all of the haze and none of the compromise, and the data sheet lists 30 IBU. Since the Chicago brewery closed on 1 August 2024, all Lagunitas beer, this one included, comes from Petaluma.

Tasting Notes

AI-generated sensory profile for Hazy IPNA

◎ Appearance

A hazy golden-amber pour with SRM 8 clarity that leans toward opaque; the turbidity comes from yeast suspension rather than particulates, giving the beer a soft, inviting visual presence. The head forms thick and persistent, with fine bubbles that cling to the glass in tight lacework. Carbonation appears moderate and even throughout the body.

◌ Aroma

The nose leads with ripe passionfruit and citrus notes, lifted by bright noble hops that read more herbal than piney. Beneath the fruit sits a subtle malt backbone—clean and slightly bready—with no alcohol burn despite the full-bodied aromatics. The overall effect is tropical without being cloying, inviting repeated sniffs.

◐ Taste

Entry is juicy and medium-bodied, with tropical stone fruit and grapefruit taking center stage. The mid-palate develops a controlled bitterness (30 IBU) that frames rather than overwhelms the fruit; hop character remains earthy and refined. The finish trails into a dry, slightly mineral conclusion with lingering citrus pith.

◑ Finish

The aftertaste lingers for several seconds with a gentle hop-driven dryness and a whisper of grapefruit rind. No cloying sweetness emerges, and the ultra-low ABV allows the hops to finish cleanly without heat.

IPAs are hop-forward ales with 5.5–7.5% ABV and IBU 40–70+. Bold hop aroma — citrus, tropical, resinous — with firm bitterness and a dry, clean finish.

Finding a similar Alcohol-Free IPA

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same hazy, tropical, hoppy character as Hazy IPNA will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
