🌍 Belgium · Fruited Sour · One of 37 Fruited Sours in hopIQ

Kriek De Ranke is an unsweetened cherry beer of mixed fermentation. Old Flemish ale matured in oak is blended with lambic from the Senne valley and steeped on 25 kilos of sour cherries per hectolitre, then left to age. The result pours a deep, slightly hazy brick red. The nose brings tart morello, stone-fruit kernel, earthy funk and a light touch of wood. On the palate the full fruit flavour meets bright acidity, lemony tartness and a dry, thirst-quenching finish, with gentle oak notes from the barrel ageing in the background.

◐ Taste

The palate delivers full cherry fruit intensity balanced by bright acidity and a pronounced lemony tartness that keeps the beer crisp and refreshing. Oak aging contributes soft background notes while the finish remains dry and thirst-quenching, with no residual sweetness masking the beer's structural complexity.

◑ Finish

The aftertaste is clean and moderately long, with lingering tartness and a gentle woody echo that fades to a pleasantly astringent, bone-dry conclusion. The overall impression is refreshing and elegant rather than cloying.
