The brewery designed it as an old export porter: dark brown to almost black, 9.5 percent, and brewed to 100 IBU, far more bitter than anyone would drink it young. Nine months on foeder then turn it into a balance of sourness and bitterness. Dark cherry, blackberry, balsamic, cocoa and oak shape the aroma. The palate joins tart red fruit and wood with light roast and chocolate, while the bitterness softens as the beer ages. Ranked by flavour match rather than popularity.
