Nightmare of Brew York

Tap to rate

Nightmare of Brew York is the strong counterpart to the brewery's Christmas milk stout, an imperial milk stout released each winter with a changing dessert theme. The 2026 edition has 7.5% and is built around chocolate, vanilla and walnut: layers of rich chocolate and roasted malt meet creamy vanilla and a delicate nutty note, in a full body with a velvety finish. Lactose, oats and wheat are in the recipe. Strength varies from year to year, and earlier vintages were stronger.

◎ Appearance

Deep dark brown to near-black, with a dense, tan head that clings persistently to the glass. The beer presents as opaque and full-bodied in the glass, with fine carbonation evident in steady streams. Head retention is excellent, building a consistent ring of lacing down the sides of the glass.
