Freyr's Bounty

Tap to rate

Freyr's Bounty is a session IPA from Brew York's Norse-themed Nine Realms series, named for the god who rules Alfheim, the realm of the Bright Elves. The brewery describes bright notes of pineapple and pine; the can adds citrus from Citra, tropical fruit from Mosaic and dank berry from Strata. Rye and wheat join the barley in the grist. Light in body, it finishes smooth and refreshing with a gentle bitterness. Launched in April 2025 as a collaboration brew, it has been stocked by Morrisons across Britain since September 2025.

◌ Aroma

◐ Taste

On entry, bright citrus and pine flavors develop immediately across the palate, supported by a clean, slightly grainy malt backbone from the wheat and rye blend. The mid-palate carries tropical fruit character with gentle berry undertones, while a moderate bitterness builds steadily without harshness. The 40 IBU provides structure without overwhelming the delicate hop profile.

Serve at 7–10°C

Serve well-chilled. Session IPAs are at their best cold — the lower ABV means less warmth to balance the hops.

Tulip glass

The curved shape concentrates hop aromas and supports a thick head. Essential for aromatic ales and IPAs where the nose is half the experience.

Drink fresh. Session IPAs are brewed to be consumed young — the hops are at their best now.

What is a Session IPA?

IPAs are hop-forward ales with 5.5–7.5% ABV and IBU 40–70+. Bold hop aroma — citrus, tropical, resinous — with firm bitterness and a dry, clean finish.

Finding a similar Session IPA

hopIQ matches by flavor profile — not just style label. A beer with the same piney, refreshing, light character as Freyr's Bounty will score highly even if brewed in a different country or under a different sub-style name.
