Thai lager is designed to pair with heat — both climate and cuisine. Chang, Singha, and Leo dominate a market where the ideal beer is cold, moderately-strong (5–6% ABV), pale, and drinkable enough to reset the palate between mouthfuls of som tam or green curry. Singha, brewed in Bangkok since 1933, is the oldest continuous Thai brand and the most exported; Chang overtook it domestically in the 1990s with aggressive pricing and slightly higher ABV.
The hopIQ ranking includes the mainstream and the very small but growing Thai craft scene, historically constrained by strict Thai brewing regulations that limit production licences.
