Granat presents a chestnut brown hue with a hazy, turbid character that speaks to its unfiltered nature and extended conditioning. The body shows good substance, and the head forms a modest collar that gradually subsides, leaving delicate lacing on the glass. The cloudiness derives from the yeast strain and extended maturation process rather than suspended solids.

◌ Aroma

The nose is layered and inviting, with prominent notes of ripe banana and dried stone fruits emerging alongside a weighty caramel foundation. A subtle licorice thread runs beneath the fruit and malt impressions, adding complexity and intrigue. The abbey yeast character is evident but restrained, allowing the rich malt base to take precedence.

◐ Geschmack

The palate is full-bodied and soft, with caramel sweetness dominating the entry and mid-palate without cloying. Banana character persists alongside dark fruit notes, while the malt provides a rich, warming backdrop. Bitterness remains light and restrained, allowing the sweetness and complexity to flourish; the 8.6% ABV provides gentle warming without harsh alcohol notes.

The finish is lingering and moreish, with caramel and dark fruit notes fading gradually into a gentle warmth. A subtle sweetness persists on the palate, inviting another sip.
