Deep ruby-garnet hue with excellent clarity and a tightly woven tan head that clings persistently to the glass walls. The dense foam structure speaks to a well-conditioned cask ale, while the body shows a rich, warm luminosity when held to light. Carbonation is gentle and restrained, befitting the style.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with warming roasted malt and dark stone fruit—plum and raisin—lifted by subtle oak and whisky barrel influence. First Gold and East Kent Goldings hops contribute a restrained, earthy spice that frames rather than dominates. The overall impression is complex and inviting, with no harsh alcohol burn despite the 10% ABV.

◐ Geschmack

Entry is smooth and full-bodied, with chocolate and caramel malt building through the mid-palate, accompanied by winey and woody undertones from the oak aging. Bitterness is moderate and well-integrated at 23 IBU, providing structure without astringency. The spice develops gradually, warming and lingering without overpowering the sweet malt foundation.

The finish is long, warming, and increasingly dry, with a pleasant woody drying quality that invites reflection rather than quick consumption. A gentle sweetness persists in the aftertaste, balanced by the whisky-barrel tannins.
