Deep black with a ruby glow at the edges, opaque and impenetrable to light. A dense, tan head forms on the pour and clings to the glass with persistent lacing. Carbonation is restrained, befitting the weight and formality of the style.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with roasted malt and dark chocolate, followed by undertones of coffee and charred grain. Beneath lies a subtle sweetness from the oat and sugar adjuncts, while the alcohol warmth adds a faint spirituous presence without sharpness. The overall character is grounded and contemplative rather than aggressive.

◐ Geschmack

The palate enters smooth and full-bodied, with roasted grain forming the backbone and a creamy mouthfeel from the oat adjuncts. Mid-palate reveals layered notes of chocolate and coffee with a gentle dark fruit character. Bitterness is present but restrained, allowing the malt-driven richness and warming alcohol to dominate; at 11.9% ABV, the booze is felt as heat and weight rather than burn.

The finish is long and dry, with residual roast and a chocolate note that persists. Alcohol warmth lingers gently on the palate, leaving a sense of substance and contemplation.
