◎ Aussehen

Contender pours a bright golden-amber body with excellent clarity and fine carbonation that drives persistent white head retention. The lacing clings firmly to the glass as the beer is consumed, leaving clean tracks of foam. Light transmission reveals a translucent, luminous character typical of the American IPA style.

◌ Aroma

The nose opens with assertive citrus and grapefruit zest, layered beneath resinous pine and herbal hop character. Tropical stone fruit notes—mango and passionfruit—emerge on closer inspection, underpinned by a subtle malty backbone that provides earthiness without competing. The aroma is direct and clean, with no yeast-driven esters or oxidation.

◐ Geschmack

Entry is crisp and hoppy, with immediate bitterness that builds through the mid-palate without harshness. Citrus flavors—particularly orange pith and lemon—dominate, while pine and resinous edge frame the experience. The underlying malt provides sufficient body to balance the 60 IBU assertiveness, finishing dry with lingering hop bitterness that remains clean and refined.

The finish is medium-length and bitter-driven, with citrus and pine persisting into the aftertaste. Hop character fades gradually without becoming harsh or astringent, leaving a pleasant dry sensation on the palate.
