Coronado Brewing Company was founded in 1996 by brothers Ron and Rick Chapman as a brewpub on Orange Avenue in their hometown of Coronado, at a time when San Diego County had only a handful of breweries. The original ten-barrel system was followed in 2012 by a production brewery in the Bay Park neighbourhood of San Diego, which now supplies distribution across much of the United States. The company remains family-owned and concentrates on hop-forward West Coast ales, with a smaller range of lagers and wheat beers alongside.
